The first ROCK FRONT outdoor products
In 1999, the first outdoor products under the ROCK FRONT name were introduced, including backpacking packs, sleeping bags, base layers, and bikepacking bags.
From the beginning, ROCK FRONT experimented with technical materials such as Hydrocoat membrane fabrics and VelaFlex insulation.
ROCK FRONT’s first slogan, “Comfort in all conditions,” reflected an approach that remains relevant today: balancing low weight, reliability, and ease of use. Over time, this idea evolved into what we now call Smart Ultralight — reducing unnecessary weight without sacrificing comfort, reliability, or functionality.

Logo evolution
The original ROCK FRONT logo featured a mountain peak and a winding route leading upward — a visual symbol of the journey to the summit.

The origin of the name
The name ROCK FRONT was suggested by Sergey Zarubin, the first head of the company’s outdoor division. Short and memorable, it captured the spirit of mountains, exploration, and progress.

Thoughtful solutions and simple design
Even the early ROCK FRONT products featured unconventional solutions. Some sleeping bags used a central zipper that allowed them to open flat like a quilt, connect with another sleeping bag, or be used as insulation in a hammock.
This approach — rethinking traditional sleeping systems and making one piece of gear more versatile — has remained part of ROCK FRONT’s design philosophy ever since.
